I picked up sewing again, and although I was taught at a very young age, something about this time has unleashed a newfound, childlike excitement. I have made some pretty cool items—some I would consider successes, and others, fails.
Let's see what I've made so far in 2025:

Cropped Shaw -January 2025
Pattern: McCall's M8349, view A
Fabric: Sweater Knit from JOANN
Fail or Success: Success
Overall Review: My first piece of the year 2025 and the turtle neck humbled me. I think it was because of the way I pinned the fabric together that caused so many issues. Needless to say, I still wore the piece and loved it!

Satin Charmeuse Dress -February 2025
Pattern: Aimee Bias cut Dress by Coraline Street Pattern
Fabric: Satin Charmeuse from JOANN
Fail or Success: Success
Overall Review: The cut of this dress + the fabric choice = Royalty. I felt so feminine wearing this piece. I received so many compliments from this one. I adore it. I plan to make the short version for my summer collection.

Custom Curtains - February 2025
Pattern: N/A
Fabric: Snuggle Flannel from JOANN
Fail or Success: Success
Overall Review: I was really happy with the end result of these curtains I made for my Mom. The only thing that I would change, would be to add a lining to the back to make the curtains opaque. Other than that, they are functional and a great touch to a play room.

Off the Shoulder Co-Ord- March 2025
Pattern: Cloned clothing from H&M
Fabric: 2-way Knit from JOANN
Fail or Success: Success
Overall Review: I love to wear these two together and as separates. I could have added a couple of inches to the sleeves for a better fit.

Green Sweater Maxi - March 2025
Pattern: Cloned clothing from Rainbow Shops
Fabric: Sweater Knit from JOANN
Fail or Success: Success
Overall Review: This was a great Winter into Spring transition piece. I loved wearing this dress while running errands and while going out. I left the hems unfinished for a "weathered" looked. I would like to see what this dress would look like with bias tape or a scalloped hem.

Wrap Top- March 2025
Pattern: McCall's M8324, view B
Fabric: Keepsake Calico Cotton from JOANN
Fail or Success: Fail
Overall Review: I think this is solely a fail because of my choice in fabric and the size I cut it. The back opening was too revealing and the top was too cropped for my comfort. I plan to try this again after changing some things.

Baseball Top- March 2025
Pattern: Cloned clothing from Rainbow Shops
Fabric: 2-way Knit from JOANN
Fail or Success: Success
Overall Review: Such a fun top! I enjoy wearing this mainly because of the tie fringe.

Flowy Wide Arm Top - April 2025
Pattern: McCall's M8145, view C
Fabric: Silky Satin from JOANN
Fail or Success: Fail
Overall Review: I was so excited for this piece however I realized too late that I cut the waist band too small. I will try this pattern again, maybe next time with a knit.

Yellow Dress - May 2025
Pattern: McCall's M8142, view C
Fabric: Athleisure Knit from JOANN
Fail or Success: Success
Overall Review: Love this piece! I did struggle with lining the dress but overall it was a beautiful piece.

Blue Jean Skort - June 2025
Pattern: Self drafted pattern
Fabric: Chambray from JOANN
Fail or Success: Success-ish
Overall Review: I made this skirt in about 30 minutes and it definitely could of been better. My favorite part of this skirt was that it was light enough to allow the wind to blow it, but also structured enough to not flip up. I need to make some adjustments to the tie straps but I foresee this being a repeat wear for my summer 2025.
That makes a total of ten makes in six months and I am a proud camper. :)
Picking up this hobby has brought so much joy to me and I am excited to see what else I can make.
Until next time,
